We rented Gjestestuene for my birthday party and it was a success. The service from both Gjestestuene who deals with the rental of the rooms and from the TG who provides the food and lay the table etc was excellent. We had the upstairs rooms, i.e. the Festsal and the accompanying Blå peisestue. Wonderfully laid out tables with excellent oval tables for up to ten persons per table. So much better than the huge round tables often found in hotels and restaurants and where you have to shout to talk to people on the other side of the table. The food was also excellent, we had barbecue buffet, very tasty and plenty of it. Very professional and smooth service.

Takk for oss, me kjem kjem gjerne tilbake!

We had our company Christmas party ("julebord") at Gjestestuene 25th of november 2016. We started our evening with a "ghost tour" around the museum in total darkness, before we ended up at Gjestestuene with a crackling fireplace and glüwein.
Our 3-course menu was lovely, perfect for a cold night. Forest mushroom soup, pink roasted sirloin of deer, and creamed rice ("riskrem"), all of them delicious! They also made two special menus with no problem. A visit from the "kjøgemester" (a traditional sort of toastmaster, with the responsibility to keep the mood and drinking up) was also appreciated.
All in all we were very happy with the night, this is a place with excellent service and atmosphere. And if you were wondering - yes, a taxi *can* drive all the way up to the premises.

This is very big museum, you will need at least 3 hours to walk all around to see how they lived in XX century.
