ASK ABOUT EVERYTHING! They have applied charges taken from God knows where. One of the gentlemen seemed sarcastic and up his own hole. We have booked a car, when we got there the car we booked was unavailable, he said to phone before booking to make sure if its here?! He then gave us a difference car (manual) as you know UK drivers, we drive on the other side of the road, so we wanted an automatic. He gave us a manual and tried to make us feel thankful as he gave us opposite what we wanted as it was the more ''expensive car''.. Such a bad service, charged us twice. First the Krakow department then the Warsaw one.
*****BEWARE, if you're taking the car take a picture to where the tank was and when giving back also take a picture if you're obliged to top it up again, as they have charged us with extra fees to the tank being ''half full'' OPTION: you can pay 200PLN and return the tank empty.********

I normally use Avis as they are normally reputable firm, but the Krakow branch seems to be an exception. First they charge an 18% local fee (on top of the 23% Polish VAT) and then try it on by adding comprehensive and personal insurance which costs close to an extra $US80 a day. Even after I declined these extras they have charged the additional amounts on my credit card!
Post script: I completed and paid for the rental, they continue to charge almost $1000 which they claimed was a deposit, but it is still a "pending" charge on my credit card 3 weeks after I returned the car.
I am now having to threaten them to dispute the transaction with the credit card company to get them to remove it.
Worst rental experience to date - to be avoided.

Overcharged and Poor Customer Service.
I rented a car from Avis and worked with Jakob. I planned to return the car in Breslau and drop it off on a holiday (24 hour drop off area). Jakob tried to change the return date to the next business date which was not what I reserved online. He said if I return it early, I'd just get a refund. Sneaky, Jakob. But I caught you and made you change it.
When I finally got the final bill charge, I was charged 90 USD higher due to a higher insurance coverage charge than originally agreed to.
I called Avis Krakow 3x to understand why this happened but they were busy and was told I'd get a call back but never did. When I finally cornered them, I was directed to Avis customer care b/c the branch could do nothing.
Customer care agreed I was overcharged. They told me they would credit my account, but I've been waiting 3 weeks for it to hit my card.
Oh, one more thing. They also incorrectly charged my business credit card instead of the one I gave them when we checked out so there's the fun in dealing with that as well. Be careful here...

Nice location in the city center close to railway station. Cars are clean and new (at least that one rented).

Good prices and the option to both deliver and pick up your rental car within the city. Car was very well kept when we got it. Easy drop off situation as well for late night returns near the Krakow train station.
