Amazing view from churchyard over Funchal. The Church of our Lady of Monte is only 5 mn walk from cable car "Teleférico". Just climb 68 steps !
Located 9 km from the city centre.
Pilgrimage and procession on 15th August.

Lovely little church and the view is spectacular from the top of the stairs. Worth the trek up.

The Church of our Lady of Monte is literally just behind Carreiros do Monte (The Toboggan rides) in the Azores.
This is a stunning Church that you are free to explore inside and out.
You are also able to get out onto the roof, where you can see the amazing views of the island.
Just remember to visit the church before you do the 2K toboggan ride down the hill, it's a long walk back up.
