Incredible views, ingenious sun lounger locations, friendly staff.

The food is great but the rooms are not quite what you would expect from a 4-star hotel...
+ Blowdrier in bathroom broken, no elevator, etc.

Myself and 3 others arrived at the hotel on the 12th June for a weeks' stay. We checked in and after the woman serving us couldn't give the our passports back to the correct people (it's not like they have our photos in them!) The lady at reception casually told us that we weren't staying at the hotel that night as there weren't any rooms available for us and we would be taken to another hotel. We weren't told where it was, the star rating or anything about it. She then asked when we would like to be collected from the other hotel and I asked when the rooms would be available and she couldn't say. There's no point in being collected if there aren't any rooms for us! It felt like we were trying to come up with solutions to their error and the lady didn't seem to care. It seemed it was an everyday occurrence for her whereas it was our paid holiday time that we were losing. After a long flight and obviously very hot weather my friend asked for a glass of water, not a bottle, just a glass of tap water and was told that they didn't have any! Didn't have any tap water!!!! Once we left the hotel we never returned. Very, very, very poor customer service.

Well placed and clean hotel.perched on rocks overlooking the Atlantic. Spread at no.more than 2 storeys high over grounds marked by palm trees -rooms are smallish but clean and tidy with a balcony, flat screen TV,shower and bath and ample wardrobe space.Beds are superb and super comfy.A small fridge included but no tea or coffee making facility. Noise is fine ,minimal, and walls seem pretty thick. Not great for elderly or disabled as loads of stone steps and changes of levels.
Hotel well supported by a free daily shuttle to.Funchal and buses not far away and ample space to park a hire car.
Breakfast is vast and varied and eating outside on a platform looking over the crashing waves of the sea is spectacular and lovely.
This is not really a 4* hotel more a 3* but a fine place nonetheless.Recommended.
