A true 5 stars experience. I stayed for 5 nights in a 9 bed dorm. Unique interior design all over the facility. Very friendly staff with good advices and tips for the city. Especially the events the hostel offers in the evening: cooking Portuguese together or a wine and cheese tasting were the highlights of my stay in Lisbon. Thank you very much for that!

The team were helpful from the beginning with some great recommendations. Even received a complimentary drink on arrival (first for me).
Rooms and bathroom were really tidy and even got a gentle wake up call after an awesome night out.
I'd stay here again!

Stayed at The Independente Suites for 2 nights and couldn't sleep both - even though I changed room after I asked because the roof top bar and lift were right next to the first room (room 2.6). The second room was further from the elevator & bar but smaller, and still had loud noises from the street (room 2.10).
The rooms themselves are small, they look shabby - the vintage touches are nice but their condition makes them a dirty addition more than a stylish one. The floor in the stairs & the rooms is disgusting. Yes, the bathrooms are nice & the staff is friendly, but the whole experience was disagreeable - loud, smelly, shabby, and a bit dodgy. Really expensive for what it is. Don't sleep there - but go for drinks or breakfast on the roof terrace!

We stayed in one of the suites with our 6-year old daughter and had a great time. The historic building is beautiful while the decor keeps it funky and unfussy. Room was comfortable with all necessary amenities, though a bit noisy on Saturday night which is to be expected in such a busy area. Loved breakfast in the terrace restaurant, and the bar and patio on the ground floor , our only regret was that we didn't reserve for dinner! Super friendly and helpful staff.

I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, the location the staff and the hostel itself were delightful. Aesthetically the hostel is one of the more beautiful I have seen and I always found the staff exceptionally helpful with any of my requests and more than happy to accommodate me. I was sad to have to leave and will most definitely be returning. Highly recommended.
