This used to be a lively place, not fantastic but the atmosphere and the owners carried it off as a good place to go.
This time it was very quiet, depressing and made to feel even more dismal by the TV in the corner relaying the Munich shootings. Luckily there appeared to be no Germans there at that time.
The food was disappointing and the starter seemed to be made up of ingredients that just managed to meet the description, as if it was done on the cheap.
It's almost a family tradition to visit the Red Lion when in Madeira but this could well be the last visit we make.

Nice restaurant but a bit overpriced. It's located near the Casino, so if you want to play some slots after dinner is a good place to go. If you want to drink i recommend going to number 2 bar just on the right.
