Best port and wine shop in Porto. The selection, the service and the price cannot be beat. I found Garraferira do Carmo on my last visit to Porto two years ago and just went there again to say hello to my old friend George and buy some port and wine for our extended stay here in Porto. We will visit him again to choose some bottles to ship to US before we head back.
If you're not sure about names, variety and brands don't worry. Just tell them your taste preference and they steer you in the right direction.
Yes, they do have expensive and very expensive bottles like old vintage ports, but unless you ask for it, they never push you toward the expensive stuff. On the contrary, they recommend the smaller producers that make better port than the big names at much cheaper price. So, don't be hung up on the famous brands.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, they helped me find the perfect vintage for my dad's birthday next month, plus they will package everything up for safe travel in your suitcase!

Why can't wine stores in the US be like this? Super friendly, easygoing, quick with a smile and a recommendation that's not necessarily the most expensive in the shop. Not an ounce of wine snob to be had. Count me in.

Amazing store. We went in without knowing what to buy, so we got an extensive tasting of white and red ports. They also pack it nicely if you travel by plane.
