This is a good choice for spending a few days to a few weeks in Iasi. I'm going to mention some of the short comings but I like this hotel and stay here often. Last time I stayed in a double room on the second and then later on a higher floor. This time I stayed in a two room apartment on the fourth. Both accommodations were specious, and clean. Daily maid service is available but sometimes negotiating when is an issue. The staff is overwhelmingly friendly and will do anything within their power to help you. They have adequate controlled on site parking. A few more spaces would be nice when the place gets busy but there is some street parking. They claim fully equipped kitchens. This isn't completely true. What's missing? No microwave, coffee maker or toaster. You will need a frying pan of 8 - 10 inches. They supply a little one that is just not adequate. You will miss a spatula or egg turner. A covered sauce pan would sure come in handy. Most of the rooms have full standing refrigerators. You want one of these. A few of the rooms only have the mini bar size. Auchan (pronounced like ocean with an a) in Palas mall carries most of what you will be missing. I got a frying pan spatula and coffee maker for around 125 Lei ($30)
This hotel is extremely well located between Julius and Palas malls. Ten minute walk in either direction. Restaurants abound within a fifteen minute circle. Altelierul de Bere; Madison; Salsa; Fire Ribs; Doppio Zero and Spartan are some of my favorites, but there are many more.
The two room apartment included a welcome surprise, a washing machine with a drying rack. Finding laundromats in Romania can be a challenge. Having your very own washing machine is a cause for celebration. I had no problems with the apartment but the double room had almost zero sound proofing. The girl next door had the time of her life all night long and then proceeded to start screaming at the dude the next morning at the top of her lungs. My Italian is fairly limited but I caught the word Sposa a couple of times. She was annoyed! Enjoy Romania, enjoy Iasi and most of all enjoy your stay at Hotel Il Primo
