The Dome Cinema in Moscow is one of the few cinemas here where you can see Hollywood films in the original language, but it also seems to be the only place where the films are not spoiled by distracting subtitles. Otherwise, however, it doesn't have much to offer, especially in terms of qualify and comfort.
I went there for a film which was already off the screens elsewhere, and although I liked the film, I can't say that I enjoyed my stay there. The picture was of some poor quality and accompanied by meagre sound and fuzzy bass from the crackling speakers piled up on the stage. People kept coming in 30-40 mins through the movie which was a bit distracting but not as distracting as the light coming from the two doors on both sides of the room that were constantly being kept open as if for want of ventilation so that my mate and I eventually ended up sitting in a draught and started sneezing. The cinema also seems to offer only a very narrow selection of films that are off the screens elsewhere in Moscow but have not been released for sale yet and is mainly open on the weekend.
It's a shame there is still not a single cinema in Moscow, unlike in most bigger European cities, that would be screening original versions of the mainstream films as they get released. The Dome Cinema represents some useful addition to those few cinemas available here that show subtitled versions of some original films but I won't be going there any more.
