Studied Russian in 2009-10 and 2010-11 in Herzen and after trying other options in several countries, now I understand better that I was very lucky to study in the language courses of this university. Even though I have experienced sometimes problems with university bureaucracy, you may easily get used to the Russian mentality of doing things and the system. The biggest plus of studying in Herzen is the first class experienced teachers in RKI faculty. The biggest problem was the quality of the dormitory (the one which is near the university, other dormitory is a very good one) at the time that I was studying there, maybe the situation is better now. A really good option for studying Russian.
