If you make it to Volgograd make sure you spend an hour at Mamaev Kurgan. A must see site! Visit it during day and night time.

It is the most impressive memorial complex I have ever visited. Every level tells a story and honors the sacrifice made by the soldiers and civilians in Stalingrad during the period 1942-1943.
The Motherland Calls statue is awesome. She dominates the scene. No matter which direction you view her from the effect is breathtaking. Add the live honor guard and you have something that must be experienced in person to fully appreciate it.

Beautiful scenery, expert masonry, with a very rich history to it. Also secluded so its a nice place for soneone who wants to relax outside

Truly a cultural must-see! If you want the maximum experience, visit on May 9th, the day Russia celebrates their victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War. In America, we call this VE day, or Victory in Europe. Truly remarkable!
