Very odd restaurant. Ordered a 100g steak only to be told that they could only serve 300g of any meat at triple the prices on the menu. Simply asking for water was an ordeal in itself, then we were provided with bread and chicken pate while waiting for our food despite clearly explaining that my partner was vegetarian. A group of German tourists arriving after us were equally perplexed, so I'm fairly certain this wasn't a misunderstanding on our part.
As if this wasn't enough the staff decided to change the background music while we were eating, but seemed oblivious to the different music playing in the indoor part of the restaurant.
I'm sure they do serve some nice food here, but indifferent waiting staff and a completely baffling refusal to serve what they advertise on the menu make it very difficult to appreciate.

Amazong food. For me the best I tasted in Piran. Why? Because it is different. No classical fish fry up but thoughtfully prepared andnpresented dishes. From fish over meat to vegeterian.
I hope they will keep and excell the high level.

I was in "Stara Gostilna" last week with my buisnes partner. We were tasting meat menu. My experience was fantastic. They have an excelent choice of meat and fish specialties.

We were directed here and then were welcomed by the staff, but then we ordered the wagyu steak which clearly said 100g next to it's title - 16€ then the restaurant proceeded to serve us a steak which had been waved at with a flame. We were presented the steak, which was bleeding and oozing blood across the plate. The final disgrace was by handing us a receipt which claimed we had been given 250g of steak, thus increasing the total overall price. They also charged us for 'gifts from the kitchen, which we didn't order and were told was a welcome gift.' Very poor.

Fine prepared fresh fish and other local specialities as pasta, rissoto. Great selection of wines available too. In same building are also available rooms.
