I worked at Rise for about 6 months in 2017 while helping to launch a tech start-up in Cape Town. As an American, and a global nomad of sorts, I found the community and the network at Rise an integral and fantastic part of my work and life in South Africa. Though I loved that Rise was open 24 hours a day, with fast internet, unlimited coffee, and amazing lunch options available throughout the Woodstock Exchange building, most days it was just the bright smile and realness of Nicole, Alyssa, Erica, or any of the friendly Rise folks in the morning that really made it such a great place to work. Meeting fascinating (and helpful) entrepreneurs, whether at Rise community events like movie night, or just friendly jockeying for a private call room or a nap on the FatSak, created such a unique collegial environment that I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. 10/10!
