Where to begin. Owned by the Shaws under the company name of President Motors. One star is actually 11 stars too many but I can only work with the cards I am dealt.
Embarking on a family weekend with dogs bikes child etc we made the mistake of asking for a full tank of diesel here. We got a tank of petrol and the forecourt manager at our window with a long face and 'bad news'. Surely if ever there was one, a full admission of their mistake considering I was talking to my wife in the passenger seat at the time.
They then proceeded to pull out a big drum and tell us not to worry they've done this before, they're just going to drain the tank there and then. Forgive me but if the guy cant put the correct nozzle in a hole, he's hardly qualified to drain a petrol tank. We called our insurance and Nissan and they backed up our thoughts. They then offered to get a more qualified guy to come to the forecourt who had 'equipment'. I declined again.
Our insurance towed the vehicle to Milnerton Nissan free of charge and the bill came to just shy of R3000 which I forwarded to Prestige Auto. Two weeks have passed without them covering the costs or communicating in any way that they intend to. They asked for an email stating the facts which we supplied them with, they never acknowledged that mail. At no point have the owners offered a form of apology to us. The shop manager even had the audacity on the day to say that it was only going to cost us (referring to me the client) more money doing it the professional way.
They have since begun the decision to be difficult saying they need to double check the details with the manager, who is away for 3 days, husband off sick, back on Wed. The last development before the phone got slammed in my face this morning by the irritable Mrs Shaw, annoyed with me for not voiding my vehicles warranty and using the makeshift forecourt petrol draining solution was that I must now talk directly to their insurance. She didn't provide me with her insurance company details. Mr Shaw had also previously highlighted the fact that we never accepted their onsite offer backing up his claim that there was nothing to worry about. Highlighting my poor decision, he shared that his and his wife's BMWs were far more expensive cars and they had performed this manoeuver on their own vehicles without issue. I found little reassurance in that. My brother also told me of them giving him the thumbs up, all paid and they'd actually left the pump still hanging in his tank dinging his car. Somewhat worrying really that they are still filling peoples cars for a living.
A trip back to the shop after Mrs Shaw had her say and didnt allow me mine on the phone left her hiding in her office 2 metres away telling her staff to tell me she was busy with personal matters, and eventually telling a staff member to tell security that if I dont leave on my own accord they must throw me out. Nice lady.
Astonishing really. We have been inconvenienced and without a car for two weeks, my wife and child don't get to say goodbye at the airport this afternoon to their aunt and cousin emigrating, plus lets not forget the family holiday we had to come up with a plan for and she's telling security to get me off site or call Sea Point security.
We were regular visitors to this particular service station, what a foolish way to run a business. Pay the costs, keep the customer, be polite and show some humility. On the day we were polite, forgiving and understanding as a family.
As a comparison Total in Woodstock made the same mistake on our previous car and dealt with it painlessly. Here we are on the affluent Atlantic Seaboard experiencing a completely different level of customer service. I'd be amazed if they agreed to a stale pack of chips being swapped. Horrid people.

Usual pitstop for me, with a PNP Express attached. Friendliest petrol attendants in town. A gentleman by the name of Alex deserves a raise!

The manager was very unprofessional! He proceeded to walk up to me shouting that I cannot park at the garage, he then proceeds to clamp my wheel even though I have only been standing there for 2min. He then demands that I pay the R200 fine, which I refused. While standing at the garage I witness countless others pull up and park for over 15min to do their shopping at SPAR down the road, without him worrying about clamping their car. So is this a personal attack? I will never use this garage again, talk about convenience, this garage shouldn't exist! I am taking this further.
