Very informative and nice day out, the old town is great, makes you feel like you back in the prospecting days. The Occidental Bar is MUST for food and drink with excellent food and selection of beverages.

The tour consists of 15min video, description of the diamond mining process, visit of the big hole, walk through the mine and visit of the museum. You can also buy diamonds in a shop there. Cheaper as in EU.

An informative museum on the history of diamonds and de Beers company. A the ride "underground" in the elevator is fun! The historical timeline is interesting. Need a few hours to appreciate all and the outside old mining town.

I first visited this museum in 2000. This current t visit was a quite impressive. The museum had improved and most of the history has been decolonised. The historical narrative now tells stories of the local population and migrant labourers from various parts of Southern Africa laboured like slaves in Kimberly. Some made a fortune, others died. More remains to be done in retelling the history of South Africa
