It's a good hospital, if not the best. The staff are friendly and helpful although they have limitations to do their best. Management is trying its best to improve the situation in the hospital. For sure, it's one of the hospitals that you need to come and get assistance!

One of the Useless hospitals I know! Even the nurses don't care about patients, I so wish it can be closed because there's nothing better about this hospital. Service delivery is poor, like yesterday my wife was admitted and I called to check on her after she called me and told me that since she was admitted @ 3 o'clock no doctor no nurse nothing. When I called was told that the Dr will attend my wife the following day. She was bleeding and no one attended her, now she lost the baby because of this poor service delivery. I never liked the hospital if it is not water problem then Doctors are not available. Hope minister of health could pay a visit to this hospital.

I have never physically been to this hospital, so I cannot comment on the level of care patients receive or quality of medical personnel. I can, however, comment on the quality of administrative staff. I phoned today because I needed to follow up with a nurse from the Occupational Health Department to whom my colleague had spoken a couple of weeks prior. When I called, the woman at reception was hardly audible, had never heard of the Occupational Health Department, and tried to transfer me to Occupational Therapy and Radiology twice. I then asked to speak to her supervisor, but she didn't seem to understand what a supervisor was. I asked again to speak to someone above her who might know more than her. She asked, "know more about what?" At this point I was ripping my hair out. It goes on, but I'll stop there. This one incident is unfortunately representative of far too many experiences I've had in dealing with public hospitals in South Africa (which is a lot) for the work I do on behalf of former asbestos mine workers. Does anyone go for training before commencing with their duties? How can a hospital put someone in charge of answering the main phone without knowing what services the hospital offers? That's BASIC knowledge of the workplace. It's pointless to even mention the horrendous phone etiquette; expecting someone to speak audibly into the mouthpiece with clearly articulated words is obviously too much to ask. At least get the fundamentals sorted.
