The museum housed in the 14th Century gatehouse and tower situated at the southern end of the Punta Romana, Roman bridge, is probably unique. It demonstrates through the use of video and audio how people of three cultures, Christianity, Muslim and Judaism lived peacefully side by side during the 10th Century’. Well worth a visit. There is also a display of ancient Islamic navigational instruments.

Es ist erstaunlich, mit welchem Elan Christen und Muslime gemeinsam die Wissenschaft vorangetrieben haben. Hier kann man sehen, das der Islam eine Grundtolerranz von den Gläubigen fordert. Spannend auch, dass maurische Gelehrte schon ein paar hundert Jahre vor Galilei das ptolemäische Weltbild in Frage stellten.
Die Struktur und der Umbau der Mezquita wird besser hier erklärt als dort selbst.

Sus vistas sobre el Guadalquivir y hacia la parte sur de Córdoba son un gustazo. Pero sobre todo albergue una experiencia más que una exposición en la que te puedes hacer una idea de como era la convivencia de las tres culturas que convivían en la ciudad. Un claro ejemplo a seguir en nuestros días. Una visión que no deberíamos perder.
