I adopt senior dogs with health issues, and I take their care extremely seriously. That means finding a vet that is not only an excellent clinician, but one that I can form a connection with, listens to my concerns and of course I trust.

I have a 16 year old dog named Red, who is the love of my life, and I am very particular about who I trust to care for her. I have had some terrible experiences with vets over the years, so that makes me even more careful.

I live in the UK but just spent the past 4 months in Spain. Before I left England I researched vets and found Vet y Vet. I was immediately interested in the services they provided and the experience they offered.

When I arrived in Spain I had a phone conversation with Pepe (Dr. Ortega) and appreciated the amount time he took to speak with me. Although I lived quite far from his clinic (50 minute drive), I did go for an initial appointment.

Name one vet that will happily spend an hour getting to know your pet, taking their history, asking questions and answering mine…and I ask a lot of questions. Pepe would…and did, and never once made me feel rushed.

We took Red to see him twice a week for 3 months for acupuncture. Red has quite a few serious health issues, and Pepe believed it was an important facet of her well being. She was also on a lot of medication, and he was able to take her off a couple of the drugs, replacing them with natural supplements.

He also created a whole foods, home cooked diet specifically for her, based on blood test results and she loves it.

In the time she was his patient, I noticed a big difference in her health, and I mean that for the better. No more breathing problems, eye infections or diarrhea.

Other reviews mentioned cost, and while I only have experience with one other vet in Spain, Vet y Vet’s prices were comparable. As to someone believing they are only interested in money, I can assure you – I have been to money hungry vets before and this accusation could not be further from the truth.

I never worried about Red the entire time I was in Spain because I knew that help was only a few minutes away, day or night.

I am now back in the UK and Pepe is still advising me long distance.

As you can see, I can’t say enough good things about this practice, and of the many reasons I want to be back in Spain, amazing vet care for Red is one of the biggest.
