We just spent 5 days touring Sri Lanka and could be happier with Mahaweli Tours and our driver, Ransome. A colleague recommended them/him to us from a previous tour and from the very first email they were highly responsive and very helpful for planning our trip, making suggestions on a logical order of sights and filling in any gaps with fun and interesting experiences. A few highlights not to be missed include – Sigiriya Rock, Dambula temples, the beaches of Hikkaduwa (Aditiya Resort), Galle Fort, and sights in/around Kandy. Ransome was a highly skilled driver (in a country of organized chaos on the roads), knowledgeable about Sri Lanka, both respectful of our privacy and preferences but willing to give suggestions if we were undecided, very prompt but flexible to meet our changing needs and desires, and fun to interact with during long hours driving from place to place. He toured the country with us, staying at accommodations provided by our hotels, at the ready for anything that we decided to do each day. Though he clearly had connections to get us in to attractions, we never felt like we were being pressured to visit tourist traps or to purchase unwanted wares from pre-arranged vendors. I can honestly say that our trip wouldn’t have been as meaningful without his guidance and the participation of Mahaweli Tours. Definitely worth the modest investment for a successful tour of this beautiful country!
