Tiny unhelpful lifts. The rooms are small but well appointed. Gym equipment is old but working and in a good size room. Ten minute walk from arlanda express

Great hotel in a perfect location, only a few minutes by walk to the old city part of Stockholm. The breakfast is perfect, a lot of options and quality products, I really recommend this hotel.

4.5 really. The only slight negative was the room size, and lack of places to unpack your clothes, but for a short stay this was tolerable.
The staff were superb, friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was superb and all the public spaces clean and tasteful. The location was fine if you need to get to the old town, or railway station. plenty of nearby places to eat and convenience store across the road. The room was quiet at the rear of the hotel and bed/pillow very comfortable.

Firstly as we all know, the photos and the reality are two different things, and that was evident with Hotel Amaranten as well.
Rooms were dirty, smelled like mold and are really cold. Wind blows through the windows and headache was constant. After complaining about the issues we were having, the response from the reception was non-existent. And after complaining yet again in the morning, they promised to change our room for better for the evening. However after we came back later, this promise was accidentally forgotten. This pretty much proves that this place couldn't really care less about customers problems.
Breakfast was really busy, no matter what time you went. Bread was OK, but ever else was poor, so don't pay extra for it.
Location was convenient, and that is why I'll give one star.
If Amaranten is the standard quality of Clarion hotels, I can safely say that you'll get easily better value for money from elsewhere. Almost 200€ for night is way too expensive.

We stayed in 2 rooms with our friends, the rooms were much smaller than we had anticipated. It took us 25 minutes to get the elevator to work as we had 3 large bags and were given 2 different sets of keys which did not work in the elevator, there was a long line as another woman's card wasn't working either but it was difficult to tell since it would go to another floor where a guest was calling it then return. It took the front desk 4 more tries before they finally got the cards to work. Finally we arrived to the room. We had ordered a third bed but there was no room for it whatsoever so I slept on the couch instead. Our room was really hot, we tried to adjust the thermostat and nothing happened, the thermostat came off the wall as it was just set on a nail in the wall. We brought it to the reception desk and told them the a/c wasn't working. They said they would send maintenance to check on it while we were out. We came back and it was still gone off the wall so we went to the desk to check on it. Another employee at the reception asked us how we got the thermostat off the wall. She then told us there is no air conditioning anywhere in the building but they would send a fan up. Half an hour later a worker came by with sheets for a sofa (that situation was resolved the previous night). We again asked for a fan. Another half hour later the fan arrived and the worker was very polite. Earlier in the day we asked for a taxi to be reserved for our early morning flight to the airport. They said they would be happy to do that. After dinner on our way into the hotel we checked on the taxi, it hadn't been ordered. We stayed there while they reserved one. They could have caused us to miss our morning flight had we not checked up on them. The floors were not thoroughly swept or vacuumed, we got dust, crumbs, hair and fuzz on our socks. The bathroom is very nice and spacious but the shower splashes water onto the floor. The breakfast is extensive and quite good.
