Convenient location. Staff are friendly and helpful though the decoration is a bit old.

This is one of the first and oldest luxury hotels in Taipei. I scored a fantastic online deal because I was arriving in for a late night check in. Service is friendly and they speak English. They told me they gave me a room upgrade but I was so exhausted I thanked them and just went to my room. The room was nice but dated. It did not look any bigger than the room I booked. They had a signal system on the wall to let housekeeping know to come and do turndown or do not disturb. Very state of the art from a different era but kind of nice. There were no USB ports or charging ports on the desk but there is an RJ45 network connection and wifi. The beds were nice and comfy and the room was clean, no different than going to a Courtyard Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn. The bathroom has a Japanese bidet with the heated toilet seat. Very nice touch. The shower is kind of goofy with an accordion style glass door. When I woke up, I explored around the hotel. There's a nice gym at the penthouse, with pocket views of the Keelung River and the Grand Hotel. The equipment is pretty varied, new, clean and well maintained. The hotel is a short walk from the Zhongshan Elementary School MRT Station (中山國小站). I don't normally stay in hotels while I'm here in Taipei. But this was very comfortable and pleasant. I'd consider staying here if I were to come back again.

The Room was nice
The Service is average
- Front Desk staff is not helpful ( some of the language barrier because cant speak English fluently)
- Restaurant Staff is really not helpful and polite ( breakfast time)
- Housekeeping is great with always clean the room and refill the amenities
- Gym Staff is nice but the Gym need more equipment and also some of them need to be maintenance

- Really disappointing with the decision of the Front Desk Manager rejecting my Request
--> Background i stay for 12 days and got room upgrade because i book with Accor membership which i pay higher for the rate
--> I request to got Lounge benefit for small snacks at evening because I got several meeting in the hotel till late at night ( which I think Lounge is not cost anything for the Hotel since it is always provided with or without guest)
--> I even suggest to change the benefit of room upgrade ( which i can be in the lower grade room) but I need the lounge benefit
--> The Front Desk is not give me the benefit, do not inform me also, and also do not polite at all also when handle my request
- I Check in with my Name Franky Njoto but suddenly when i am Check out my name is change to my friends name "Mohammad Salman", luckily I check and ask for revision but the front desk is not really helpful, she also can not explain who and why change the name, and even she asked me to go down with my passport as a prove .. so silly since i check in with my pasport and my name but suddenly even no one can explain why it changes when i am check out
Note : Really Need to treat long stay guest better

Great service. Though there was cockroach in the room once. But hey it happens. They were really kind to change the bedding also provided with some free food and the staff humbly apologised..

Japanese style hotel. Can see many Japanese in the lobby. The bed is too big foe the size of the room. The shower bath and toilet are not seperate. Clean but old hotel
