Probably the most modern museum in Istanbul.
It has a very good cronological display of wonderful artefacts and perfect maps and texts in english.
10 times better than the Archeological Museum

This Museum doesn't get enough recognition. Great Museum to learn about the timeline of the different empires. It also has many Qurans from different centuries and in different scripts. Also a great Museum to visit and see the footprint and beard of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Entry can be gained with the Museum Pass and because not many people know about this Museum, one can actually take your time with the Sacred Relics and experience the Museum thoroughly. Not a very big Museum so if you take your time, 1 and a half hours should be sufficient time to spend here.

Excellent museum displaying 1400 years of Islamic history from the time of Khulfa-e-Raasheedeen till the Ottoman Empire. The museum also houses one of the original written version of the holy Quran and it also has Sakal-I-Serif or hair from Prophet Muhammad PBUH beard. A must visit.

A must visit for Muslims. Rich in Islamic history. The air conditioning is powerful so it can get chilly if you are dressed for the hot weather outside.

Excellent collection of Turkish and Islamic art housed in a 16th Century Grand Palace. It's a museum just located at the Hippodrome and it is opposite the Blue Mosque so very easy to find.
It's closed on Mondays and you should spare about one hour to walk around the exquisite examples of calligraphy, tapestry, manuscripts, hand written books, sculptures and many more.
