I am not a customer of Thrify directly but had to make a complaint to the branch regarding the conduct of two members of their staff.
I approached my property and was unable to park on my driveway because a white BMW 116d was parked over it. I exited my vehicle and asked driver to move back. The response from the driver was to shout expletives towards me. Following this, the passenger exited the vehicle and started to swear and pace towards me. Two of my friends had to intervene to stop him from coming any closer and potentially physically assaulting me or at least threatening to do so. I then asked them which branch they were from. The passenger got back in the car and they drove off. I took an image of the vehicle and passenger which I have attached to the bottom of this review.
To think that a company such as Thrifty could employ people with such an aggressive manner is extremely concerning and I would definitely not use Thrifty for any car hire on this basis. Do their employees not go through any form of vetting? Would you be happy to let those guys deal with a member of your family?
I spoke the main switchboard and furnished them with the vehicle registration mark. The operator was helpful and advised me that it was from the Thrifty Birmingham City branch. I called the branch a spoke the manager Mark. Firstly, Mark was extremely defensive towards his staff and was not particularly engaging towards me or at all apologetic. I asked him for his name and email address, which he refused stating that he had received death threats previously from customers so was unwilling to cooperate. He then threatened to terminate the call with me unless I gave him my name and contact details. I was then provided with his manager's details (Marcus Loveridge) who then forwarded my concerns on to Linda Malliff (Director, Central Services). Both were apologetic.
I have reported the matter to the police and the two drivers have been interviewed. I am however somewhat skeptical that it will improve their attitude or conduct towards work. Alarmingly, it was not just one of them but both of them thought it was acceptable to conduct themselves in such a manner. If my friends had not been there to intervene I may have been physically assaulted all because I asked someone to move off my driveway all whilst representing a large business.

GReat service and great prices! I could not find something at a beter price online, and their cars are practically new!

Absolutely disgusting customer service, came to get a car and waited 2 hours for it to be ready. Front desk staff don't know what customer service is plus dont know what their doing. The rest of the staff are so rude unsure how or who has trained them, but they need to know how to treat their customers. Been here many time and previously they had some great staff at front desk guessing if their not here they've moved onto better things. Guessing sixth is where I'm going to from now on. I never booked 6 months in advance to come here and start all over again. Think Thrifty need to consider training heir staff and making sure there customer are looked after.
