Just cancelled my membership. The pool and sauna time table is a joke.
You pay full membership and can only use it at very restricted times, even more restricted now the schools are open.
Out of the 7 or so times I actualy mannaged to go down, was only able to use the sauna once !!
If there are swimming lessons going on or womens only swimming or school swimming lessons or private booking slots you have no chance as the sauna and steam room are on pool side ?. Such a shame as the place was nice.

I was really impressed with this new place. The gym is really well stocked with cardio and weight training machines and there is also a separate area for lose weights too. The swimming pool is 20 metres and also has both sauna and steam rooms poolside.
There is also a baby pool and separate studios for classes.
All in all a brand new centre with everything to cater for everyone.

Beautiful clean building, lots of classes to choose which ones you like. Two swimming pools and a gym. Only down sides are the sauna and steam room, should have had its own seperate area rather than in the pool area. And the changing area by the pools needed to be alot bigger. Who ever designed this space needs to re-design it.

Highly overpriced membership and pay per session prices considering you get asked to leave the pool after only an hour!
Forced to pay for additional Gym membership if you wish to use the sauna or steam rooms! Swimming membership gives you access to the pools ONLY and NOT the sauna or steam rooms!! Sauna and steam room is ONLY included in the gym membership! This should be included and part of the swimming membership considering the Sauna and steam rooms are located right next to the main pool whereas the gym is on the upper floor!
Highly complicated time table and mainly biased towards learn to swim sessions and private bookings which are at an additional cost to the already expensive membership fees!
Clearly not enough trained staff as they refuse to open the small training pool due to lack of LIFEGUARDS. Have been refused access more than 4 times now due to this very excuse and was forced to either go back home with my young children and disappoint them or use the large pool which is a lot less warmer than the small pool and pretty scary for young children!
The pools should be open for longer and later than 10pm on weekdays and 8pm weekends with more dedicated Fitness Lane swimming sessions that actually adhere to the rules and not allow people that want to get in the way of others and are there just purely for fun or to relax or even learn to swim as it completely defeats the object of that session for the people that are the there to swim lengths without having to dodge other people and change lanes constantly!
I used to visit the old pool on a regular basis in my childhood so you can imagine at how excited I was and how much I was looking forward to having a new swimming pool open up in Sparkhill after 2 decades or so of being shut down! But having been a full paid member including my wife since it opened I am rather disappointed with the New Facilities and its lack of value for money!
Looking back I am also certain the new pool is a lot smaller and in no way as deep at only a mere 1.8 meters at the deep end!
To be honest it is privately owned and nothing to do with Birmingham city Council hence the facility is too damn small and every aspect of it is simply overly priced including the statutory join up fee of £25 ontop of membership fees!
Also it doesn't even have a dedicated car park so you have to park your car at your own risk where ever you can find a place near by or just park like every other dodgy driver in Sparkhill and create your own spot whether it be in the middle of the road or completely blocking the pedestrian walkways!!!!

Nice and new, with the latest facilities, quite spacious and early opening hours. I generally go for the swimming and the pool is the perfect temperature, not too warm or cold (29 degrees I believe). If you have a membership there’s a swimtag facility that allows you to monitor the distance you swim with the addition of the calories you burn. Good addition to the community. The main point will be how well the facilities will be maintained, but so far so good.
