Downstairs looks like a typical pub, but there's a rather quirky upstairs with a wall of old style looking maps, exposed brick and many odd pictures which definitely adds to character, the bar staff are very friendly as well.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, fantastic vegetarian menu, relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Stayed in Brighton for 2 nights and went to this place 4 times.

When in town & in need of a good swift half, then we'll head to The Victory. Great, really great beer, with guest ales. Good pub grub. Always friendly service. Chilled out atmosphere. A few tables of the street for when it's nice & sunny.😎

First impressions: nice traditional pub atmosphere, bartenders extremely friendly and welcoming. Good varied menu with very reasonable prices. Good range of ciders which is always a plus with me.
Seating area up the back is a little small, but didn't bother us - you could call it cozy. Food brought to us surprisingly and impressively quickly. Really generous portion sizes - is there such a thing as too many chips? Well, they were delicious, anyway. I had the fried halloumi, which was delicious, although the ratio of halloumi to beer batter was a bit low; couldn't really taste it. Very nice batter though so couldn't be too upset. Girlfriend's review of chili and sweet potato chips: "really good, would eat again". Overall a very pleasant find.

Proper boozer in the centre of town. Quite nice area, but doesn't make this place snooty. Instead, it's an honest bar with honest food. Also great for a drink on your way somewhere or just passing through town.
