I love Fishminster. The staff have always been smiley and pleasant whenever I've been in and the food cooked perfectly. My favourite chippy in Bristol.

Visited here after the Balloon Fiesta based on reviews here. Wasn't too far away and we could head back to the Midlands easily. While the premises are nice I found the food somewhere between average and good. The food is freshly cooked but despite this it wasn't piping hot, just hot. The chips were not too greasy and a decent portion. The fish batter was crispy, not too heavy. The fish, while fresh was decidedly thin (see the photo I added) and looked like it needed a workout. All things pointed to an epic visit. Poshish website (which had fish pie on the menu - but it had become extinct on our arrival) and nice photos. But all in all was a bit of an anti climax. It was nice to get the food in a cardboard serving box. I almost want to give a fourth star for that. Potential is definitely there to raise the bar, I hope they do.

Worthy of 4+ stars. Cod was very good, slice of lemon and plentiful chips. Staff managed my expectations and said there would be a 12 min wait, food was ready in less than 10 mins. My new Friday night chippy.

Fish is good. Chips used to be a bigger portion than they currently are and the battered sausages used to be alot bigger. Now just seem like an overpriced frozen oven sausage in batter. In the past this was one of the best in Bristol but after a few disappointing visits recently this place has started slipping in standards and quality.
