Fist experience at The Bank Tavern.
Called up on Wednesday to book, no tables available but asked if I could leave my number for any cancellations, Friday morning I get a txt from Sammy offering a table at one. We turned up and got extremely lucky with a parking spot outside (leave time to find parking). Greated by I believe the owner who was very welcoming and friendly, a very relaxed atmosphere - had a chat with the group next to us (members on here also) and ordered the pheasant for starter, I had beef and my mate had pork for mains. Both superb, it is very difficult to recreate a traditional homemade roast in a restaurant. Everything was great especially my beef that was melt in the mouth. Only two negatives was the rogue roasted swead that I mistook for a potato (I don't like swead) and the lady to my left who left he whole Yorkshire pudding untouched. Mentalist. Two courses for £13 is ludicrous value. Would definitely recommend.

Decent little quiet pub a bit out of the way. There weren't many beers to choose from and decor is very basic and not super comfortable. Suitable for a quick rest and a drink out of the way.

Yet another incredible Sunday lunch. You would find it hard to find a restaurant serving this standard of food. Plus. At this price. Amazing value for money. This pub is quickly becoming our local. Staff are amazing and lots going on each night. What not to like !!!!.

It's hard to be all things to all men (or women) and risky too. Many good pubs have been lost to the fad of foodie-ism.
The Bank boldly and brilliantly manages to be both a brilliant 'proper' pub with great beers and real ciders, and serve delicious and well priced food.
A friendly local pub in the city centre. Visit for the food or just cos it's a great pub.
