This is a cracking estate pub.if your after haute cuisine it's not for you. Basic food at a fair price. Good beer for less than 2.40 pint of John Smith. £2.40 for God's sake. The pun itself is a bit ruff. But excellent staff and the landlady is a barmpot. The sort of place to go for your tea after a hard days graft. But not if your trying to impress on a first date.

I went in for a meal mid Sept 2017 -- I had a meal with family, we got a table straight away but could not take our seats straight away because it was filthy! It had crumbs and was very sticky, we got the waitress to clean our table before sitting down. There were flies everywhere which gives you a sign on just how dirty the place is!! It made me wonder what condition the kitchen is in - I hate to think. We waited about 45 minutes for our meals to come out and one of us had to wait an hour for her meal, we did ask about her meal after 5 minutes of our meals arriving only to be told it'll be here shortly.. 10 minutes later it arrived!! NOT GOOD!
I've recently been told the manager is being replaced so my thoughts are, the manager at the time just didn't care at all since she was leaving. I play Poker there every Thursday, when I was at the bar waiting to be served I overheard the manager talking to a customer over the bar saying how glad she is to be leaving.. "At least I get to have the time off work at Christmas.." she said. I was in a rush to get back to my game and I let her know I was waiting to be served 1 pint of lager when she said "the bar staff will get to you when they can" LOL - She didn't offer to help the 1 staff member serve 'her'" customers, I actually felt sorry for the working staff member there!

GOOD NEWS! --- The Greengage is now under new management (horrayyy!!) so things can surely only improve. I will at some point (once they've settled in) I'll give their restaurant & bar another try and update this review.
I can only wish the new management the best of luck in getting that place up to better standards!!

Gone down hill the last few times we've been. Helpful friendly staff but massively under staffed. Food is still good though, just feel sorry for the staff

Food was smashing service was slow. But waitress was nice and polite. Felt it was a long wait. Only a dozen customers in. .have been here and its packed. Sadly lost all its customers. New manager in and he was nice . So who knows . Might pick up.. looking for staff by the way.

I don't leave many reviews, but this place was awful. Ate on a Monday evening, place was very quiet. Almost all the tables inside were dirty. Sat outside, ordered food, and waited an hour for it to show up. I had steak, that I asked for medium rare, and it was very well done. Same as my wife's. I would have sent it back, but I didn't want to wait another hour for food. The only positive to this place is the children's area.
