Have seen the dreadful reviews and needed to pitch in. I am returning to this Dentist after a move away and would disagree with the general negative reviews. What is the criteria for the negativity? - a poorly paid and grumpy receptionist? Not really why you go to the Dentist in my opinion. Were the premises clean? - Yes. Was the Dentist/Hygenist competent? - Yes. Did your filling fall out within a week? - No......So what is the prob? If you want a Mercede-grade service there is a Dentist on St Andrew Street South you will pay through the nose for (and you can go to Waitrose after.....). The resources of the NHS Dentistry Service are extremely ltd - - Some locations do not even have an NHS Dentist accepting patients. So really people should be thankful it exists here in BSE. Lobby your MP if you want this funded properly where a) they can afford to pay Dentists/staff properly and prevent them from going private and b) there are more options and choice.

Wandered in on what I thought would be my first appointment. I didn't know I had to pay upfront (my old dentist used a bill system for those who couldn't always pay on the day) and nobody told me I needed the money on the day. The receptionist was rude, made me feel stupid and laughed with her colleague at me. I was frustrated as I have several tooth problems. I was so put off, and felt most unwelcome today. I will not be returning.

I have lost count of the number of appointments that have been canceled on me (usually at the last moment). One time the dentist didn't even show up, with no explanation ever given! So many hours taken off of work for no reason, just to turn up and be sent away due to another cancellation. My employers have lost patience with me, for keep taking so much time off (I work 45 minutes drive away, so an appointment can mean a couple of hours out of the office). I gave the Dental Centre the benefit of the doubt, as they were apparently without an office manager. With the new manager now in place I believe, things haven't improved. Appointment cancelled, yet again recently. This all went well beyond a joke over a year ago. My main upset is for the dental health of my child, who is getting her adult teeth through early and continues to have her appointments bumped, although apparently they can see her sooner if we're willing to pay privately for the privilege! The actual dentist is very pleasant, if we ever get to see them! One of the receptionists, although not directly rude, has a somewhat surly and confrontational approach (probably as a result of dealing with so many disgruntled patients). They're probably not very well suited to a front of house customer service role. As a hard working tax payer, I object to paying private fees to be advanced up the waiting list and perhaps this is a sign of what's going on at this practice. This dental practice is a total shambles, an embarrassment to its management, it's staff and the NHS. I am surprised they rate themselves as 4.1 out of 5 on their own web site, which contradicts the NHS choices rating of 2! We are on the waiting list for another dentist and will be moving at the soonest opportunity, which unfortunately may be a while.

New receptionist is shocking! So incredibly rude, no patience, just awful. I left a message as I was going to be 5 minutes late due to a road closure, and when I arrived (only 3 minutes late in the end) she said "well you are really late" and was so rude, disgusting. She also forgot I was in the treatment room one day and started cashing up the till without me, then had the cheek to call me the next day and pester me for payment when I was busy at work, making out it was my error and not hers! I'm so glad my amazing dentist, Rejeev, is moving to a different dentist as I will be moving with him! Good riddance.

I was with this particular dentist for several years & the main thing that always stood out to me was none of the dentists seemed to stay around for very long. Many times there was a different dentist seeing me than the previous one. The main problem they have here is keeping to appointments, they like to cancel them and rarely give reasons why. Its a small practise of two dentists, so its somewhat understandable but in my opinion the place has gone downhill.
My last experience here was HORRENDOUS and I will never go here again. After having my previous appointment cancelled by them via a letter, a new one was made for me for an extraction and a filling. I arrived in the surgery, spoke to the receptionist...waited just over 10-15 minutes when a young girl (I assume she was a dental assistant) begins having a conversation with the receptionist about me. I didn't catch the entirety of what she said but I did hear her refer to me as "him" rather loudly which as a woman of trans-experience with a female name I found insensitive and unprofessional but that’s not even the issue here...I am just pointing this out for those of you that are in the same minority.
I then got called over by the receptionist who's words to me were "I'm sorry we can't see you today". Are you serious?! You cancel on me once now you are doing it again and only telling me AFTER I check in 10 minutes later?! At this point I'm thinking this is beyond ridiculous but oh it gets worse. They didn't know what dentist I was with. The dentist who saw me prior was someone totally different because my "new" dentist (who I'd never met by the way) was running 40-45 minutes late the last time I was in there and the other dentist saw me on his behalf.
I then literally had to EXPLAIN what treatment I was having and who with to the receptionist. I'm not joking. They had me down for a filling when I was told I was coming in for an extraction.
I was angry at this point which is understandable, however I didn't make a scene, looking back now I wish I had, maybe they'd have seen me or maybe they wouldn't have. I'll never know. What I do know is you don't treat patients like this. Period.
The receptionist then proceeds to apologize rather falsely and tells me I will get seen tomorrow, she is going to call around and cancel some other appointments especially so I can get seen immediately. These were her words not mine. I could tell she wanted to get me out the door but I honestly believed her. So I left waiting for the phone call. About an hour later I received a call telling me I couldn't be seen the next day as she promised. Instead they want me to wait another MONTH on top of the time I've already waited. Oh and it gets worse, the dentist that I was going to see or would have seen was going to leave there/or shortly thereafter. This place is an absolute mess. There's no other words for it. I promptly turned her offer down and told her I'm going elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone its ridiculous. They need to get their act together. The one good thing that came from this was I was able to find a great new dentist in a different part of town and actually get the proper treatment.
