Such a shame! Booked for my wife's 50th Birthday 2 months ago. Finally after much chasing I received the proposed menu for our party (just over a week before our proposed visit). I appreciate we were a large party, but a choice of 2 main courses (one of which is vegetarian) is hardly a special menu. On phoning I was informed that no extra options could be added due to the size of the kitchen (even though the idea was that we would pre order). If you can't deal with a large party in your private dining room you should make that clear at the time of booking rather than push them away with a poor menu a week before.
I have eaten at 1921 before and the food can be stunning, but in this case the service has been left severely wanting.
In my opinion 1921 is fantastic for an intimate evening for a couple or a small group, but sadly has shown itself not to be a venue of choice for the larger special party.

Wow, just wow! Excellent, excellent food. Combination of tastes put together so cleverly, without losing the original intent of the dishes. A very gifted chef indeed. Other members of the crew were also top notch - attentive, warm and knowledgable. Definitely a place I’d recommend to others, and one I’d come back to.
