Durrant House Hotel, Bideford: July 31 - August 04
Hotel breakfasts were limited if you did not want a "Full English".
Staff were polite and attentive.
Our Driver, Paul, coped very well with traffic congestion on our way home. He had to make a detour from the motorway, which resulted in a very long driving day.

Just back from Scotland. Jerry the tour guide was wonderful and took great care of all of us. Sam the young lady driver was a fantastic driver. The Telford coach was lovely and comfortable. Scenery and steam trains fantastic. Hotel good as was the food. Had a lovely time. Flights to and from Glasgow right on time. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

We went to lake Como and both the courier Phil and driver John were excellent.. nothing was too much trouble. Hotel Bazzoni in Tremezzo had wonderful views of the lake and food was very good too. Trips to the Glacier express St Moritz amazing scenery and boat ride on lake Como plus trip to Como town all great. Hotel was just a short walk to Villa Carlotta and the spectacular botanical gardens.

My friend and I had a very good holiday, BUT I booked 'Liverpool and Mersey Magic' not Liverpool, Mersey and the Beatles, as it became later. When the title changed I do not know.
The hotel was in a very good position, within easy walking distance of most of the very interesting museums (all free) and the two cathedrals. We had a brilliant guide on the coach on a tour of the city. He pointed out and told us about the Beatles music, where they lived and played and he played some of their music to us. No mention at all about Cilla Black, but I was happy about that. The hotel was stylish, 100 years old with big rooms, good food. But unfortunately the cleanliness of our room was not as we would like. Our coach driver did his job, but hardly said a word to us, so we were not informed if our cases should be loaded before departure time. Overall a very enjoyable 5 day holiday in a lovely city.

The holiday was linked to visiting National Trust properties and was well planned and well led by Tami who joined us at our first overnight stop.
The hotels used were excellent especially the Holiday Inn at Nottingham.
Properties visited were a good choice although the Welcome Letter needs updating as it showed one house and the refurbished landscape site we didn't get to. To have fitted in the house on the suggested day would not have been possible but it looked worthy of going to somehow!
The Coach was on it's last legs and was either too hot or too cold and we had to ask the Driver - who tried his best to sort it - to turn up or down. Our seat was near the toilet and sadly we on several days could smell it and again although the driver tried to sort it we felt it was in need to a total and deep clean. We understand that coach was on it's last trip - if not it should have been as it ruined the fairly long drives we had.
The hotel in Newcastle was excellent but for each visit we had about an hour plus drive each way each day except for the Newcastle visit. If the hotel had been further north this would have been avoided and we could maybe then have visited the other house. Start and driving times did of course match the NT opening times but we feel this could be looked at for the future. Excellent value for money and a great trip
