Would have adopted from here. Staff were helpful and pleasent, giving the place a professional image. It was when we bumped into the 'behaviourist' that the true colours shone through. More interested with stroking her ego than the welfare or homing of the dogs. I was reprimanded for stroking the dog, she said you never touch or 'lay hands' on a dog. (you would think I had been rough or hit him the way she was going on! - At that moment I was seeing what strength he had in his hindquarters. The dog seemed more aged than his apparent year of age) she informed me....'you give them treats'. You don't stroke a dog? You give him treats and he will tell you if he has back issues or pain?

If she had pulled her head from her backside and saw what was going on, she would see I was actually feeling his responses. You have a strange dog, I want to see if he reacts, as this would show pain or spinal issues. My last had a £5000 back operation, so was feeling for tender spots, sensitive areas and strength of hind quarters - of course, a bigot like her would not consider or understand anything outside of her own ego.

I let her have her moment in front of the audience she was playing up to - then asked her to show me her method of giving treats until the dog did what she wanted. The Dog ate the treats and did absolutely nothing! lol! Her excuse? The dog didn't speak or understand English...... She then went on to defy the dogs description, by saying it had never lived in a house, would mess inside, wreck the house, bite and be like a full size puppy. The advert stated he had basic training and understood commands.

No staff had told me of the dogs origins, so I had no idea until this womans outburst. I think she is of the opinion that all around her are fools - I trained Gundogs for many years, I have stood in courts and saved dogs that were meant to be put to sleep for aggression and rehabilitated them into happy and stable dogs. Dogs that homes and their experts had given up on came through my doors and left happy. I no longer have the farm, I no longer have gun dogs but I can still turn a dog around with ease, (and without hitting or hurting them - I use energy)

Looking at the centres' bad reviews, both on google and other sources. They are all regarding the dogs (undisclosed) behavioural issues. When I was there, they were handing a dog over that the new owner had stated had been returned before for behavioural issues and aggression, and the handover had been delayed due to issues with the dog, A women booked an appointment to see the behavioursit (god help her!) due to her dog that she had rehomed having behaviour issues and aggression. There were dogs that had been there for years that had behavioural issues i was told - so, if you have a behaviourist on site than you promote and charge £50 a hour for - why do all these dogs have issues that have not been resolved in years? It would appear the charity is paying for the service, but not gaining from it, not seeing the results - not giving dogs a chance to settle into a home for life. All due to one persons Ego and mission to educate all these 'dumb' people she meets.

Certainly put me off dealing with the centre - she informed us that the descriptions are incorrect, and was so obnoxious and offensive you wouldn't want to deal with them. Shame, the dog could have had a nice home. I think this women really discredits the centre and it is a shame her behaviour damages the charities' reputation as much as it has. The dogs will continue to have behavioural issues, the centre will continue to have complaint after complaint until this is resolved. You need to decide if you are an home for an Ego, or to rehome happy, stable dogs to good homes, because that is a big failure point.

Looked after me and my dad whilst we had to give up our cats. Great charity!
