This is definitely a gastro pub. A small but adequate selection of beers. The food however is excellent. I had one of the specials: a perfectly seasoned swordfish on a bed of risotto rice. Our group also had the pork belly and the hake, again both delicious. We finished with the chef's sharing platter of desserts, essentially 3 for 2 on a single piece of slate, great for subtly stealing your friends pudding. Very tasty too. Prices were slightly expensive compared to an average pub, but reasonable for a foodie pub. Bill for 3 mains and desserts and a round of drinks was sixty something pounds.

My only reason for lack of 5 stars is that the pasta was advertised as vegetarian but when i asked them to double check the parmesan it turned out that it wasn't. They happily served it without the cheese but this should not be advertised with the V sign on the menu.

What fantastic value for money. We had a lovely room with a very effective rainfall shower, firm but comfortable beds giving us a good night's sleep. We had fish and chips which were the best I have ever tasted, and the breakfast was lovely too. Great attention to detail to ensure our stay was a great one. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would go out of my way to stay again.
