My 5th visit over a number of years. Sadly this hotel has gone downhill and is looking tired.
Great location.This used to be great value for money but sadly no longer.

It's in a good spot for exploring the city, the rooms are fine and clean. Breakfast service is excellent. It's undergoing refurbishment so felt the price was excessive and the reception administration was very poor, despite assurances to the contrary the one of our rooms was charged to the wrong card, no invoice or receipt provided. Please check your bill.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. For being so close to the Royal Mile I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonability of the cost. Our room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of Grassmarket and the Castle. We experienced great service as well as good food. We would definitely stay here again if we ever get back to Scotland.

Upgraded to Castle view on check-in, which was a nice treat, and a wonderful view. Twin room was very comfortable with two double beds. Parking (£12) at the hotel was a handy feature in Edinburgh. A few niggles: the bath was very high, with no handholds, so getting in and out felt quite precarious. In contrast, the sink was very low! The complimentary take-home Apex duck found in the bathroom was full of water, so had obviously been used for a while, which was a bit off-putting. We were told that the breakfast the next morning was priced per item, so we're quite surprised when we were both charged £15 for a very light breakfast (the same price for a full breakfast). Overall, a lovely stay, and we would return.
