Good food, but poor service. Left without dessert after waiting 20 minutes from being given the dessert menu. I suspect no-one was able to keep track, since we were served by 6 different people over the 2 courses we did have.

The Hotel du Vin was very convenient to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. It is central to the heart of Edinburgh. It has a beautiful wine bar, cigar and whisky room, wonderful restaurant. The room was nice with a stocked refrigerator, white robes in the closet, and large ensuite bathroom. The hotel staff was friendly. Parking is a short walk away and tricky to find.

The food was extremely nice and the service pleasant when it came, but it was quite slow and hard to attract the staff's attention. We were a party of two, and drinks were missed then slow to be brought to the table, each course was presented to the wrong person, and a service charge was automatically added to the bill despite us being unaware of that. Could do much better.

All staff were welcoming and courteous. The food was tasty and well presented. The atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. A great choice for a Sunday lunch before our first show of the day at the Edinburgh Festival 2017

Warm, homely, class, with character to boot. There's nothing to not like about this charming hotel. The choice of whiskey's at their relaxing high class wine bar is phenomenal. The unique layout of the rooms just adds even more character.
