Stay here regularly, you can see why it was voted best hotel in Scotland. It's the most wonderful place to stay!! The team behind them is truly amazing and it's always a pleasure to see them! Wonderful bar as well!

Amazing hotel. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious. We will defiantly be back.

Beautiful old hotel - Edinburgh's oldest. Perfect for afternoon tea. But why did they have to drop its 136 year classic name of "The George Hotel" in favor of the new owner's self promoting name??? Makes you wonder if some of the other classic amenities will go by the wayside over time.

We had an amazing stay on The Principal Edinburgh. The best hotel in Edinburgh to my opinion. Located on new town and the location is simply perfect. It has great restaurants and the service is simply outstanding. The room, bed, pillows, etc were very comfortable. Highly recommended if you are planing to visit Edinburgh.

I wasn't a guest at the hotel, I just came in for drinks and dinner. They let us take our dog in the bar, but not in the restaurant. Oysters were big and bouncy and fresh. Smoked haggis was soft and powerfully smoky. Scallops were beautifully cooked. Chips were a little uncooked and cold inside, and lacked flavour they could have got by cooking in dripping or lard or duck fat. But steak was cooked precisely, nice bite on the decent priced hanger steak (onglet) and the bone marrow gravy had big lumps of bone marrow in it. Yum! Good beers on the menu too.
