This was my favourite stop off the Royal mile. Sweets are delicious. Try the locally produced pick n mix classics! What truly makes this place spectacular is the lady behind the counter. We had a great chat and she is the funniest and friendliest person ever. A must go in Edinburgh.

Wonderful selection of quirky gifts and retro sweeties - great if you like things on the slightly twee side. Chatty, friendly staff and decent prices. When I stumbled upon it today, was surprised I hadn't been in before. Now I'll definitely be back next time I have a birthday to buy for, or feel like treating myself.

Scientists need sugar! So after a day at the Edinburgh International Science Festival we head to Lickety Splits just round the corner from the City Art Centre. This is a traditional 'sweetie shop' with gallery attached and it works. Remember the days when it was a pipe dream to have a bookshop and coffee shop combined? Hey, now anything goes...well maybe not anything. The sales person is fantastic and offers samples of sweet and sour delights. She has a knowledge of the stock, where the treats are made and differences in taste buds between male and female, Swedish and Japanese etc.
We had fun choosing our sweeties and even more fun eating them on the way home in the sunshine.

This is definitely the best sweet shop in Edinburgh and probably the most unique and quirky one I've encountered so far! Even though it might sound weird at first, the combination of traditional sweets and artwork works really well. The two owners are both very friendly and will happily talk about their artwork/jewellery and the sweets for hours! There is a variety of sweets to choose from as well as prepared bags for those who can't decide:) Amongst my personal favourites are the sour mix and their ever- growing liquorice collection! Overall, great little place- a true gem in the historic centre of Edinburgh.
