A new addition to the semi-official Art Quarter that is the New Town, the Sutton Gallery skips the bravado and clichés and instead tries to showcase art they find genuinely exciting. Each exhibition runs for only a few weeks, starting where possible with a visit from thek artist, so there's always something new coming up.
As one of the owners is also a local poet, there are regular poetry events in the gallery, featuring a range of performers from near and far, adding a new level to the gallery experience. It's not a huge venue though, so if you're attending an opening or a reading make sure you get there early or be prepared to stand.
