I just want to say that my 10 months old rabbit died the day after being neutered at Vets4Pets (Pets at Home). At 5:00 am of the day after the surgery, we noticed that after we placed him in his cage, taking step-by-step all post-operative care recommendations included in the letter they sent us a few days before the neutering, turned out he never moved an inch, never ate a thing or drank a single drop of water (the vets told us that if this ever happened we should bring him back to them ASAP to be checked). At the moment we checked him, we found out that his intestines were hanging out his bum, coming through his open surgical wounds. We carried him immediately to Vets Now and either the nurse and the vet who attended him that morning were stunned after seeing the rabbit’s condition. The vet told us that the bunny was in shock already and, even though she could try to do her best to relocate his intestines in a emergency surgery, the chances that the animal had for survival were ‘too slim, almost non-existing’ (because his intestines were hanging out for too long already, plus they were probably contaminated), that the best to do was the euthanasia in order to avoid aimless suffering for the animal. After putting him to sleep, they took a photo and drafted a report to be sent to the vet who castrated him as first thing in the morning. Later on (@10:00 am), Vets4Pets’ (Pets at Home) receptionist phoned us to see how the rabbit was doing, she didn’t know a single thing of what happened that early morning (that the rabbit had died) because NOTHING was logged in her system; she apologised and she said that she would ask the vets straight away. After a couple of minutes, she phoned us back and said that turned out they had that report from Vets Now since early morning, but, that the Vets (for some reason) never passed it down to reception (who knows why), finally she said they’d call us back soon. At 7:00 pm we had a phone call from one of the vets who apparently attended our rabbit during his neutering, and she apologised and said that probably the rabbit while nibbling the stitches out he could have pulled his intestines out by accident, this -honestly- doesn’t have any sense for us since we investigated a lot and that’s nothing likely to happen (not to say it shouldn’t happen) after castrating a rabbit. It’s too hard for us to tell this story over and over again to our friends and family and now here; we suffered a lot because this should never happened in the first place, and we really wish to have had someone who could have warned us about how the vets would do their job, even considering we’re talking about a “simple” and “quick” surgery as neutering (as the vet told us it was supposed to be). Definitely, I would never ever bring a pet to this place to be neutered.

I have been quoted £360!!! for a dental xray under anaesthetic and teeth scale and polish for my cat. If further work needed, for example tooth extraction it was going to be £525 and beyond. My local vet, family run business, charged £210 for dental xray, scale and polish under anaesthetic, 2 x molars extraction, 2 x broken k9 drilled down, painkiller injection and to take home, free post op checks. Shocking prices quoted by vets4pets, go elsewhere!

Just returned home and we were very pleased with the attendance our Border Terrier received.
It was a nurse who attended the anal sacks being emptied and she was very thorough and extremely patient with our wee dog.
We would certainly use them again and recommend their kind service.

Spoke too soon, it is now Friday 31st July ( that is 5 days after Laura worked on my Border Terrier) and I am having to take him to my Vet to-morrow as the problem appears worse. Depending on the outcome to-morrow I shall be telling the Companion Care Vets what the outcome is, as if they had done the job properly I should not have to be taking him back to my vet for the correct procedure. My dog is pretty uncomfortable with it all and I shall be demanding a full refund from The Companion Care People!

Money grabbing at the expense of animal welfare, disgusting, avoid!
My initial experience was fine, friendly front of house staff, reasonable standard prices. However, as soon as I took my dog there with an actual problem rather than standard maintenance my experience changed horribly.
They were obsessed that he had swallowed a 'foreign object' such as a tennis ball or sock and would not listen to me that I knew my dog (five years old, known him since 8 weeks) and he just doesn't do that. Once they knew I was insured they were like cartoon characters with pound signs for eyes. They wouldn't listen to me or my husband and scared us into worrying enough to agreeing to a weekend of tests and fees. We were Charged for all five visits over one weekend, all insisted on by vet of course. Even charged to pick him up after unecasary xray and blood works (all clear, as we expected).
£500+ later they agreed with what I innitially went in saying that he has a swore tummy and requires some pain relief while he recovers. They had the cheek to charge me for completing their part of the insurance form which I was now forced to claim, resulting in his insurance now doubling, for nothing! Also the last vet was really rude and patronising to me and seemed completely unintersted in my dog (now a nervous wreck on the table thanks to the experience of having a swore tummy poked and prodded all weekend by inexperienced vets) and obsessed with selling me expensive products like Advocate.
My poor boy is now afraid of going to the vet and if anyone goes near his tummy he remembers his weekend at Companion vet care and runs a mile. We now have a puppy too, needless to say we have changed vets. Wish I had gone to these guys for a second opinion in the first place. My experience has made me very weary of vets and I am trying to help others avoid the same experience. Don't put your pets through what mine's been through.

I have used Companion Care Vets over the past year since getting our spaniel, and all the staff have been absoloutly amazing. There practice is excellent, fresh and clean, and they are always welcoming. The prices are well bellow the norm as well which although not a deal breaker, does help :) Fantastic Practice, Fantastic Staff, Fantastic Prices ... what else do you need.
