Our annual visit was as good as ever. Friendly staff, excellent food with a very interesting Specials section, all in comfortable surroundings at a good price. Love it.

Great meal and service. Never been before, worth a return visit when I come back up north. Food is good without all the junk some places use to please British people.

Whilst the restaurant location was decent - I cannot say the same about the quality and taste of food. Lakeland Spice is just another so called Indian restaurant that is actually serving a totally different type of cuisine. The food we experienced here on 24 Aug 2017 was anything but Indian. The main courses were just bland and not even properly cooked for one of the chicken dishes. Chapati was made using plain white flour instead of real wheat flour. Just awful and revolting.
Truth be told, like thousands of other 'Indian' restaurants and curry houses around the UK, the food served here is predominantly of Bangladeshi or Bengali origin. These flavours are run of the mill and nothing like true Indian food. If you truly wish to experience Indian food, I suggest you look elsewhere. Being one of the only 'Indian' restaurants around, their prices were definitely on the higher side and almost comparable to London prices.
PS* There is no truly authentic Indian restaurant in Keswick region - I did look around.
Furthermore, I have concerns regarding the hygiene of this restaurant. At any given point, there were 6-7 flies constantly hovering around a certain spot on the ceiling. Occasionally few of them swerved down to the tables and annoyed the hell out of me and seriously ran the chances of contaminating the food. I highlighted this to the staff and they didn't seem too bothered.
Lakeland Spice is centrally located but the only way they can succeed is by changing their chef and adapting their menu to proper Indian food.

Great Food good service, just make sure you don't have the table at the back of the restaurant as it is access to the toilets and 8 out of 10 people don't thinks it's. Their job to shut the door they just walked through.

If you're nearby and need a place to eat, then this is your "fallback" as it is ours. You'll understand that as Birmingham people we won't comment on the spice and depth of flavour (common to all Cumbrian curry restaurants), however we keep going back as the staff are friendly and the food is of consistent quality.
This is the place for a "curry in a hurry". Although I would book ahead and avoid the rugby club nights.
If you're there over Easter week then we' ll be there.
