Gobsmacked by the traders here. I've offered a few items to sell in the last week and unfortunately, due to their their lack of 'bartering' experience, once they feel your initial price is too high, rather than discussing a more reasonable sale, as one would expect, they just close down and say 'im not going to make any money, so im not going to offer you anything else' (verbatim ...bare in mind, there was no offer made by them).
Ive approached two of the traders recently and won't be dealing with these people again. They're amateur approach to dealing with sellers has lead me to feel very confused and somewhat aggrieved. An item is only worth only what it's worth on the day, so they could have had an absolute steal. Their lack of decorum was outstanding.
I'll give you an example... I took a vintage 70s peanuts mirror to sell and after explaining there were two online selling for around 40 +p&p the guy turned the picture around and picked up the string attached to the back for hanging the mirror and said 'well, this isn't attached' and tutted playing with the fixture in the hole it once fit. To which I replied 'that's a two minute job, the item is still the same' ...I suppose this illustrates my frustration with the staff here. It seems their focus is elsewhere than directed towards potential customers, as was reflected again when I visited with my upcycled wine rack and bowl. A no is also a fine and valid response, but there are ways to go about these things. For instance, noone asked me a single question about any of my items, once again attesting to their lack of care in regards to the business transaction presented infront of them.

It is piled high, and prices vary (12 dealers in the same space means everyone costs differently) but there's treasure to be found, whether furniture, clothes or bits'n'pieces. I'm still obsessing over the perfect 60's turquoise armchair - if only they sold online!
