Very much a community public house in Aylestone village. Located in a cul-de-sac in a predominantly residential area and not easily seen from the main road (Middleton Street) so very much only visited by those in the know rather than passing car traffic although popular with walkers and dog walkers (it is a dog welcoming public house: a bowl of water is always available in the Beer garden).
It is an Everards house tastefully refurbished in 2015 and has a good selection of guest ales, cider and a huge selection of gins normally. It also has Beer and Cider festivals in the Spring, Summer and at Halloween - often with live music.
Food available at lunchtime and night-time throughout the week and weekend so very popular with diners. Disabled accessible ground level entrance. Has a proper beer garden with real grass - not just tarmac. No car park but on-street parking available locally. Cyclist friendly - has cycle racks and free air pump as Alan and Sarah the Landlord and Landlady are cyclists who run the pub's Sunday cycling club "The Black Horse Fliers" and have undertaken sponsored rides to Skegness. There are also a book club, a sewing club, a live acoustic music night and an award winning comedy club (The Laughter Loft - last Saturday of the month). The Landlord and Landlady have raised funds for a defibrillator to be placed in the village so they are very much community focused. All-in-all a fine place to visit for fine food and drink.

My husband's favorite pub in Leicester. We recently moved to Spain but on a recent quick visit to Leicester we had to pop in for lunch & a couple of his favorite pint, Old Original. Food always good, lovely cosy pub with great atmosphere & friendliest landlord & lady in the area.xx
