There's some very interesting modern artworks here which you can buy.... It's affordable. The classic fine art is limited, but there's the maritime models section that is home to dozens of large scale models of actual ships dating back to the heady years of Cammel Laird. The café is OK, not as good as Lady Lever art gallery though. Plenty of car parking at the back...

Please visit this lovely building and space as it's in need of support. There are always impressive new exhibitions when I visit and various events take place. The cafe and staff are lovely; one of the staff brings in baked goods. The permanent exhibition of pottery, model ships and paintings, with reference to the historical background of Birkenhead; are worth a look. There is a small art materials shop and second hand book-shop. This is a much loved and historical building which is very reliant on support to keep it open.

My sis and i loved that art gallery when we were young, my sis was 9 and i was 10 .. There was an Edwardian music player you had to put a penny in the slot for it to play a tune ..that was in the mid to late 60`s ...Happy childhood memories ... We lived in Claredon street which is nolonger there.

A fascinating museum and gallery. The model ships on display which were built by Cammell Laird over the years were really interesting. The art work is ranging from good amateurs and sixth form students to established artists. There is an excellent cafe as well. An excellent visit.
