Another great place to learn about the Bard! Guided tours run about every 30 minutes and well worth doing and learning more about the times of Elizabeth the First and Shakespeare. The Globe is based on the original theatre and not a bad seat in the house. If visiting during performance season take in a show as there is always a twist to it either in costumes or props.

Definitely worth a trip. Standing entry is very affordable - about £5 a ticket. It's fun to see some Shakespeare actually performed at the globe.
Food and drinks are available to purchase before the show and during intermission. These are a little bit expensive, but definitely not unreasonable given that you're purchasing at an entertainment venue.
Be aware that the standing section is not covered, so you'll get wet if it rains, and you're not permitted to use an umbrella.

Great selection of plays to see. I always recommend paying £5 to stand in the pit & get the real experience of the play! Just remember to wear comfy shoes and take time to appreciate being in an open air theatre (look at the sky, sunset & stars whilst the play is taking place) - a truly magical experience. Every play I have seen here I have been thoroughly impressed by the production, performance, costume, set, music, volunteers...the list goes on

I've been here twice, a year ago to see "Hamlet" and just recently "Much Ado About Nothing". Both shows were fabulous and an interesting take on Shakespeare.
Things to note when visiting the theatre:
- Yard tickets are really cheap and a great day or evening out. Personally, I always buy seated tickets because I can't stand for that long.
- If seated buy cushions, its really worth the £1 extra
- A lot of the performances are modern takes on the original production. I've read a couple of bad reviews on here about this, personally I think its excellent.
Go to the Globe and buy a seat, you wont regret it.

The performance of King Leer was great. Sensational acting, but the seating. My goodness! It couldn't have been less comfortable. I wasn't expecting armchairs but I was sat on a thin wooden bench for 3.5 HOURS with no back support and little legroom. I'd have much preferred to have been standing. I appreciate that they're going for authenticity but I feel we probably don't need perfect authenticity. I wouldn't expect a bout of cholera either...
