Excellent service! Sunday roasts looked and tasted amazing. A bit pricey but well worth it.

Visited the Harwood Arms for a special occasion dinner last night. We decided to try the specials: Mackerel with pickled cucumber and seaweed mustard for starters and a shared platter of Braised Deer with a plethora of roast trimmings.
The starter was a flawless and well balanced dish (possibly the best cooked mackerel fillet I have ever eaten). Loved the sharing concept behind the main course. The deer was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments were packed with flavour and well executed.
Why not 5*? At these prices and boasting a Michelin star, the entire package has to be perfect and it was not. The wine (South African Bordeaux) was okay but not befitting of the price tag. The sauce that accompanied the main was nothing special and lacked depth/wow factor. We asked for a dessert wine menu that never arrived and it took some time to get the attention of the waiters to request our bill.
All in all, a very good meal in a cosy and relaxed environment but these guys need to up their game on service and their wine selection.

Very good indeed.
Went for Lunch midweek on my own. Ate at the bar which is novel and very welcome experience for London. More place should offer this, like in NY.
The quality of the food and ingredients is exceptional. Seasonal beets with smoked eel with was very subtle and delicious.
The star of the show was the roast Berkshire deer though, which was world class. An exceptionally interesting mix of flavours and textures and done just perfectly.
The serving team and Manager were very friendly, top notch service. I will be going back (to try the amazing looking scotch eggs!), in a group if I can actually get a table on the weekend.

I heard about this place at the Game Fair and wanted to give it a try.
It was incredible! Service above expectations and the food was amazing.
I was immediately impressed that the menu was small and locally sourced foods. Exactly what a great restaurant should be and do.
My main was the Fallow Deer and I was absolutely in heaven. Presentation was perfect and the meal itself was to die for.
Go, enjoy as you will not be disappointed.

When people throw around the term Gastro pub then this is what they really refer to. This is a pub offering excellent British style food in a great environment. The food is always great, often parts are grown in their own garden. Drinks offered are also good, interesting wines and a fairly good beer selection. Prices are also very reasonable, one of the cheaper Michelin starred restaurants around.
