The lineup is fairly long for a mediocre payoff. One of those things that you kind of need to see just to check it off the list but temper your expectations.

Did some research beforehand and found that recommendations were to go early before the crowds built up. We got to the Tower at 9.45am on a Saturday and although it was busy at the entrance, we headed straight for the Crown Jewels. We walked straight in and had a slow walk around the exhibition with quite a few people there, but without it being crowded.
The Crown Jewels are stunning and simply and clearly exhibited. The travellater either side of the crowns exhibit makes them really easy to see as people have to keep moving slowly past and crowds don't build up around them.
My husband was pleased we saw the Crown Jewels as the last time he visited the Tower just over 40 years ago, the crowds were so big there they never got to see them. So he can cross this off his list now!

The line is not terrible of you get there early. Seeing this is simply a stunning, once in a lifetime opportunity, so a little wait is worth it. Queen Victoria's crown was my favorite. Photography really doesn't do the jewels justice after seeing them in person.
