Skells Macallan (27.02.2015 15:44)
From my latest short story CASPAR (eBook on amazon/kindle):
"For the pick-up he usually had a quick pint in the Britannia, sneaking out the back door and left onto a rough garden patch overlooking the rather posh car park of Bold Street and the new red-brick houses in Openshaw Court."
I actually visited the Britannia on February 5, 2015, accompanied by a Salford photographer. The place was quiet at around 13:00 hours, only one man at the tiny bar, and a very young lean girl serving us pints of Tetley's. I'm afraid the standard of the beer wasn't quite up to scratch. We've had better ones.
Still, it was nice and relaxing to be sitting for an hour, having a decent conversation unperturbed. The pub dog was inoffensive and as friendly as the staff.
What an elderly woman (the landlady?) was doing in her bathrobe and slippers, is anybody's guess. At least, she filled us in on the ongoing reconstruction of the inn.
