Lovely old pub with great beer. Basic but characterful

This pub is over 500 years old lots and lots of wonderful history good and bad. You must try the local cider if you visit.

One of the best ale pubs in plymouth what more can I say. Less than 5 mins walk from barbican. Hidden away. Has real ale fests and other events such as sprout day. Music on a Sunday. Well priced drinks always well kept ale.

This is the oldest pub in Plymouth and was around when the Americas were first colonised. It's tiny, but the beer is good and the atmosphere friendly and eclectic. Occasionally has terrible bands playing in the front room but the locals are so friendly that you don't mind. A good place for a pint when it's howling a gale outside with horizontal rain. Which in Plymouth happens frequently.
