I chose this vets for location in case of emergency which is the only reason why I stay at this practice. My dog has diagnosed with conditions that I have yet to be validated, when I have taken him in with an actual injury (cut paw) I was told he would have to have surgery which I was fine with. Called up and was informed that he was recovering well and could pick him up after 4, the bandage on his leg came off during the week which revealed nothing had been done apart from applying a bandage when I questioned this the retracted their first statement about the operation. My next issue is when he developed a limp, he was put on pain relief. I had a job in Taunton so obviously my dog came with me, he still had this limp after restricted walks and plenty of rest so took him to a vets up there who said the pain relief he was not strong enough for his weight deeming it ineffective. I wish the practice was what it used to be like and care of these animals rather than a money making business as it now appears.

After previously choosing a well-known, nationwide pet superstore's in-house vet service (they who shall not be named), I could not be happier with my choice to change vets: this experience was a world away from the dire, misinformed advice we had previously received in our early and somewhat naive dog-owning days. The fact the costing is far more appropriate (and I've done the research on the previous vet service's costing) is a mere side point when it comes to the sensitive care and expert veterinary advice you are given by Woodlands - I'd pay the astronomic prices of other vets for the quality of one particularly brilliant vet's consultancy alone. Everything was explained clearly and expertly, context was sought before any decision were made and all potential scenarios regarding timescales of recovery and medicinal requirements were transparent and forward-thinking. Our vet-shy dog (vet-hating, as we had previously thought) was made to feel comfortable and safe before any kind of veterinary inspections were made, and at that point the vet made it abundantly clear why it was important to stop any further inspections to avoid more damage. The reception staff were also particularly welcoming and helpful. All in all, you couldn't really ask for more. PLEASE NOTE: this glowing report, while entirely deserved, may be partly influenced by a conversely poor consultation with a previous vet.

picked my dog up after he had surgery and he was coverd in his own diarrhoea. i asked why he was in this state and the tramp behind the couter said he had only just done it (with attitude). i told her she was lying as it was all dried in and obviously been on him for some time.

After my cat spike was involved in a RTA i immediately rang them up and they gave me helpful advice and support.

On arriving on the site the staff were on standby and immediately jumped into action taking spike and making him more comfortable and checking him over.

After carefully explaining the situation we saw spike who was content sat in the oxygen tent and we left him while he needed xrays and an operation.

The night staff i seriously cannot fault ... not only to know he had company but the reassurance that i could ring up anytime during the night to check that he was ok gave me the piece of mind i needed and the friendly nurse on the other end was only to happy to answer all my questions. This for me was amazing after seeing another vet practice in plymouth whose staff were cold and unhelpful when it came to my partners family cat

Thankfully he is insured so that was sorted quickly and we got him back on new years eve which made my partner very happy indeed. Hes had his jaw wired for now and due back this thursday to have it removed. I seriously cannot thank all the staff who helped and operated on spike. Hes back to his normal mischievous self :)
