The hotel room was a disgrace. Furniture was overturned. The beds were pulled out of place. It was hard to open the door because the room chairs were stacked up against the door as if someone was trying to barricade themselves in. The window was left wide open which meant the room was freezing at this time of year... With no way to work the heating. It was impossible to lock the door from the inside which meant security was very low. On top of that, the person at reception did not really seem to care about the situation - he said that if we want a refund we'll have to get it online. Cups and mugs and the kettle were dirty and on the floor. Chairs were completely broken down and left in the middle of the room. Cabinets were flipped upside down and left against the wall. Also I was told by the receptionist that I would have to pay a £10 deposit for the TV remote... However there was no TV in the room.

I was staying in room 426 'sedgeley'. I have pictures for proof if necessary.

This low budget hotel is in need of a massive refurbishment.

if you don't mind cracked and missing bathroom tiles on the wall and loose tiles on the floor.

the staff i expect are min pay and no standard's..they leave you waiting and waiting.

Quite a difficult Hotel to find as it isn't sign posted well. Staff were friendly. However, the stay at the Hotel was comical to say the least. Took 3 attempts to pay by card to book in. When trying to find my room was taken on a mystery tour of various carpets, paper signs and numerous doorways and staircases. When I eventually found my room. It was quite dated with only 1 functional plug. A fairly minimal room which is why I guess it was cheap. Could do with updating as it is rundown.

Horrible place. This thing should not be called hotel and it is a maze inside. At the end the guy at the reception wanted to rip us on £10 on remote deposit. Do not recommend.

I'd specified I needed disabled access when I booked but on arrival we found our room was on the second floor and there is no lift. We were offered another room on the first floor and given the key so we could have a look before deciding. As it was getting late and we had plans for the evening we could really do without the hassle of trying to find another place to stay, so we went to have a look. There were 2 bedrooms, lounge and bathroom. The whole place could look very nice with some work and a lot of TLC, but it is very run down, wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, glass broken in the window, only 2 of the lights worked. Very basic, old fashioned (but not in a good way), just very shabby and in need of a good clean.
We went back to reception and explained that my disabled son would not be able to get up the stairs. To be fair the guy was very reasonable and tried to get us a room at another hotel nearby but he couldn't contact them. He said I would have to cancel the booking or I would be charged and seemed to be very understanding of our situation by waiving the cancellation fee. When we left a couple who arrived at the same time as us came down to reception and explained they were not going to stay as the room was too dirty. The guy also advised them to make sure they cancelled their booking to avoid being charged. He didn't seem phased by it at all and offered no apology.
Although I completely agree with this couple, I have always thought if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. For that reason I've tried to be as fair as I can to the hotel but I have to say I've never seen anything like this. It's such a shame because it could (and maybe one did) look very rich and elegant. Currently it's not somewhere I would ever consider staying and wouldn't be able to recommend it.
